Walking
The Summer Isles Hotel is the perfect base for exploring the Coigach Peninsula. Here, we have spectacular hills with breath-taking views. The area boasts many walks from a gentle stroll along our unspoilt beaches to a more challenging walk up Stac Pollaidh will take your breath away!
The hotel has 26 documented walks in the area, each well described with distance and type of terrain. Packed lunches are available upon request.
Boating
Sea Tours
The Isabella is the local cruise boat owned by Ian Macleod. She cruises the Summer Isles giving passengers the opportunity to see many different species of sea birds among the rock formations and caves.
One of the highlights of the trip is visiting the seal colony where you will see seals in their natural environment. If you are lucky, you may catch sight of the dolphins! Evening tours and fishing trips are available on request”. To get in touch with Ian click on the button below :
Sea Kayak & Canoe
The Summer Isles and surrounding area offers a wonderful variety of coastline and inland lochs to explore. You will discover caves and archways, plentiful wildlife and hidden sandy beaches. Kayak Summer Isles are a small team of highly experienced guides - based in Achiltibuie.
Arts & Crafts
The walls of our restaurant and lounge bar are full of paintings by local artists which are for sale at very reasonable prices!
In the next-door village of Polbain, Lesley Muir produces a range of bright and bold ceramics that are generally inspired by life around Achiltibuie and the Summer Isles. Every piece is hand decorated by Lesley using the traditional Scottish Spongeware technique and is signed before the final firing in the kiln. Fishing
Fly fishing, on the many fresh water lochs around Achiltibuie, is a wonderful way to spend the day. Fishing tickets can be purchased from Achiltibuie Stores. For those that prefer sea angling, the shore, boat or pier (at Badentarbet) offer plenty of great sport - especially when the mackeral arrive in the Summer!
If all of the above seems a little too strenuous, you can always relax in the hotel and enjoy the Scottish scenery whilst sipping a local gin or a fine malt!
