The Restaurant
Summer Isles Hotel has for many decades been a “destination” hotel and the main reason for our guests coming here, and returning year after year, is the food and wine served each night in the restaurant. Most of our guests are passionate about food and they know that we are too!
The awards we have received are listed elsewhere in these pages, reflecting the historic success of our dining room. But it is unwise to rest on your laurels and so in the last 2 years we have been pursuing even more vigorously our desire to use as far as possible fresh local produce. To this end, we now :
* buy as much salad, herbs and vegetables as we can from Achiltibuie Gardens, successor to the defunct Hydroponicum
* grow some of our own herbs, flowers and vegetables in our own miniature Hydroponicum (known as the greenhouse!)
* continue to buy our scallops, langoustines, lobsters and some fish from local fishermen – you can often see them in small boats fishing between the hotel and Tanera Mor
* forage for ultra-fresh herbs and salad items on the beaches and fields around the hotel
Our restaurant can accommodate up to 32 diners in 2 adjoining dining rooms. We try to provide an intimate, candle-lit environment. It is available for lunch but really comes into its own at 7.30 pm each evening for dinner.
